Naturally, being a cheap and easy project, there's tremendous room for improvements. Here's our list of things we want to do for V2.0
- Replace the aluminum foil bearings with bearing made of very thin sheet metal.
- Improve the attachment of the pushrods to the mirror to allow for less slop.
- Add a simple built-in amplifier to allow the DiscoLazer to accept line-in signals. We hook ours up to the "speaker B" amplifier outputs, which means that the volume we use applies to both the DiscoLazer and the actual sound playing through the real speakers. With a seperate amp, we could set the pattern size independently from the actual volume of the music playing.
- Add a graphic equalizer to let you enhance/suppress frequency ranges to get the prettiest slices of the music.
